Dear all,
First of all, I should tell you that all your comments finally made their way to the Badum through our friend Javier Ruiz. Javier took the time to compile all the comments and sent them in a text doc. So we have finally been able to see the comments, laugh and feel all the support (which we were already feeling through emails!). And for that, we really want to thank you for ALL your support, best wishes, and kind thoughts. After having been here without seeing anything for a couple of days (some say they've seen a boat.. i think they're starting to see ghosts in the horizon..), it really makes a difference :)
Yesterday's post was by Juan, the first one in the new "guest bloggers" list to make sure you're getting a well-rounded view of what's going on.
Last night was quite quiet again, but nonetheless most of us didnt get much sleep. We had about 15 knots of wind and the boat was heeled (sp?) all the night, which is great during the day, but such a pain at night when it seems you´re sleeping in a hill! I think that was the main reason why last night most of us were not able to sleep well and the watches were altered by some coming earlier (which was great for me bc I was able to go to bed one hour earlier!) and others took the time during the night to edit the videos we've been recording for the past days in order to prepare the Badum TV new episodes. Nonetheless, the sky was as beautiful as always, clear and incredible. The feeling of such a clear sky with absolutely nothing but water around, makes you feel very very small, and very very insignificant. And very stupid (or underdeveloped still) compared to such grandness...
In the morning the wind went down, and so we were able to bath (always with a shark watcher, just in case...), read, and suntan (or sunburn, depends on who you ask...). We took the time to perfectionate our panza-ski ( panza refers to the belly, so it will mean something like belly-ski, imagine... hehe). Only the Captain hasnt bath in the Atlantic yet (someone needs to show some maturity on board...).
Today for the first time, our speed over ground was faster than our boat speed. The boat speed refers to our speed with respect to the surface of the water. The speed over ground refers to the absolute speed. This one discounts the effects of the currents. So if today our speed over ground was faster than our boat speed that means that we were surfing on a positive current! Meaning also that we finally reached one of the Gulf streams, reason why we were sailing so North.
The menus on board never stop suprising me. Yesterday, we lunch cous-cous with meat and stir onions. We dine out of tapas (couldnt have been any other way!). And today, we had tomato, onion, and egg salad, with Jamon Serrano and cabrales (lovely spanish cheese), which Luis conserves amazingly well in a jar full of olive oil and garlic. I dont know if we are going to be ¨beach ready´ for when we arrive :) But fear not, because for that, we've created the boat-aerobic :D More coming soon...
And I conclude today´s blog by confirming what you were probably suspecting already: the crew is already resembling and doing a tribute to Robinson Crusoe!
Best regards to all!
